The Paper Rope Chair by hettler.tüllmann has been nominated for the Ecodesign Award.

In 2012, the Federal Environment Ministry and the Federal Environment Agency launched the Federal Ecodesign Award to bring the potential contribution of ecodesign to environmental protection more strongly into the public eye, as well as to encourage innovation in this area. The International Design Center Berlin, with the support of a project advisory board, has been commissioned with the development and implementation of the competition format. For companies as well as designers, the award provides a platform to showcase products and ideas of outstanding ecological and design quality.

Through the use of „discarded things“ – such as remnant material from industry and manufactories, discarded materials, rubbish – seemingly useless things should be made usable again. Bearing in mind the social criteria these products thereby developed should be sold also by job creating organisations  or similar institutions. The production of clever, beautiful and useful designed objects which awarded a prize conduces to the environment and is a contribution for employment promotion.

The Paper Floor Lamp and Paper Rope Chair are selected for the exhibition Refugium – Berlin as a Design Principle at the DMY Airport Tempelhof, June 05-09.

Refugium offers an overview of the latest work of leading Berlin-based and German designers, established and upcoming, while focusing on what makes the Berlin design scene unique and exemplary. Refugium is an initiative of Mapping the Design World and curated by Max Borka.
