DISTURBANCES IN THE FIELD

December 1st 2024 – January 18th, 2025 Collective 62, 901 NW 62 St, Liberty City, FL
join us on Sunday 11-2 pm for the opening of „Disturbances in the Field“ organized by artist Michelle Weinberg.
„Disturbances in the Field“ assembles the diverse works of nine artists whose processes involve sampling, glitches, noise, static, feedback, forking paths and rogue signals to effectively hitch a ride on the improvisatory forces and wayward pathways that present themselves in contemporary life.
Works by artists Daniel Arturo Almeida, Dimitry Saïd Chamy, Karen Combs, Marina Font, Ai Kijima, Alex Nuñez, Hettler.Tüllmann, Michelle Weinberg and Natalie Zlamalova are formed in response to forces of accretion, repetition and randomization that reflect our navigation of life experiences and the data that represents it.

IN BALANCE

November 21, 2024 – January 19, 2025 The Wolfsonian-FIU @ 1001 Washington Avenue

Like The Wolfsonian’s current exhibition The Big World, Hettler.Tüllmann’s In Balance addresses the relationship between human activity and the environment. The design duo’s iconic Swing chair is suspended in balance with a group of bromeliads, forming a mobile inspired by both Art Deco motifs in the museum’s collection and by South Florida’s plant life. If a person were to sit on Swing, that balance would be destroyed, a metaphor for the precarious stability of natural ecosystems when humans enter the scene.
