Mycelium play

Exploring a world of organic matter, experimenting with mycelium, the root structure of mushrooms. Mixed with agricultural waste and pressed into a form it is left to grow. After days it emerges as a compact form covered in a soft white layer. Once baked it becomes a firm, light structure. While mycelium has been successfully used for building insulation, Hettler.Tüllmann’s designs reflect on the fragility and beauty of this mysterious material.
